Baby Hat & Matching Booties

I have moved! Please visit me at https://jessaknits.wordpress.com/ for new posts and patterns :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My co-worker is having a baby and we threw her a baby shower at work. I love, love, LOVE when people are having babies because it gives me the chance to make the cutest things. I wanted to make something cute for her little girl (en route), but only had a couple of days. I found this great hat pattern from Projects Around the House and loved the style. It's a simple pattern while having a little flair with the bows. I based the booties off of a pattern I found, originating from The Lovely Crow, and then crafted my own, slightly smaller bows based off of the one given in the hat pattern.

I thought it may also be fun to stray from the traditional pink and went with a darker purple. I think it contrasts great with the white. For more patterns and projects, check out my Pinterest or back here for new patterns!

Granny Ripple Afghan

I have moved! Please visit me at https://jessaknits.wordpress.com/ for new posts and patterns :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my first completed afghan. I've knit/crocheted a lot of things, but I have never taken the time to make an afghan. I really love this pattern, which can be found for free here from Project Linus or here from Ravelry. It's a basic stitch, I've seen the pattern in several different places. I used the Project Linus one, but it is through the wayback machine, so I figured I would share both links just in case the first link decides to stop working.

I used Red Heart soft yarn since my local craft shop was having a sale on it. You can use any amount of colors in any pattern you want. I used Navy, Teal, Grape, and Light Grey Heather. It took about 5 skeins of each color. It can vary a lot depending on your tension, so you might need more or less.

Anyways, here it is! Let me know if you have any questions about the pattern and I would be happy to answer them.

Zune Cozy

I have moved! Please visit me at https://jessaknits.wordpress.com/ for new posts and patterns :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been knitting for years and I've never made my own pattern, so here it is. Yay!

It's a Zune.. Cozy... thing. I made it for my 80gb Zune. I'm working on one for my friends' Ipod touch. They knit so quickly :)

Caron Simply Soft yarn, 5 (size 1) dpns.

CO 48sts (in the round, so 12sts per needle), k 45 rows in (k2, p2) rib stitch.
Then make button flap shape of your choice (and pattern, I used stockinette). I knit about 10 rows then decreased at the beginning and end of each row until it was long enough. Oh, and don't forget the button hole! When you decide where you want it, cast off a few stitches so your button will fit through. Then all you have to do is stitch the bottom together on the inside and sew on the button.

I suppose I didn't need to be difficult and use size 1 needles, but I hadn't used them yet and I was looking for an excuse :)

The pattern also works nicely in different patterns. I made one in stockinette with rib stitch at the top and no button flap.
